The History and Archives.
At the end of 2008, I decided to start writing a blog, to chronicle the story of Dromedary Records, a label that I ran with my wife and best friend between 1992 and 2000 or so. It was a fun story. Something for everyone, as they say.
During the course of the year, though, we started to reconnect with a lot of our old friends from the Dromedary days. And we started hearing the same thing over and over: “Why not put that music out there again? And while we’re at it, why not put out some new music?”
The more we talked about it, the more we realized it would be fun to document those days in the blog, but also fun to make the music available again. And to start documenting new music.
So we did.
At the same time, the blog represents the history of this company. And we’re going to keep adding to it as we go forward. At the same time, it’s important to me that we don’t lose the things that came out during the time I was blogging, with no intention of ever reviving the company. So I’m creating this “Archives” page, and dropping some of the older menu pages underneath it, just so we don’t lose them.
Since we’ll be adding new entries to the blog all the time, it’s going to get more and more difficult to find the historical section – the stories from the early days of the label. If you’re interested in reading those entries, you can start from the beginning by going here. From there, you can move through the calendar – the first entries were in January of 2009, and the “historical” entries continue right through the end of December of 2009.
There were also some “background” pages that were designed to explain what Dromedary was, and why I was doing this blog in the first place. Those pages are sort of “archival” pages now, and so I’m just going to nest them under this page, so that I don’t lose them, and so anyone who might be interested can read them.
