the ground rules.

Okay.  Back to proper punctuation.

I thought it would be worthwhile to post some ground rules regarding interaction with this blog.

1) This is not a business site.  This is not my Facebook page.  This is mine.

2) This is my blog.  I’m using it to tell a story.  If you stumble onto it because you googled my name, don’t say “Oh, look, my son has a website!” or “Oh, my nephew has a blog, let’s see what he’s up to” and then freak out when I use bad language on my website.  I use bad language in my house sometimes.  When I invite you to my house, I don’t use bad language.  If you listen at the window and I don’t know you’re there, you’re liable to hear an f-bomb.  When I invite you to my blog, I won’t use bad language, either.  If you sneak in and read it, there’s an f-bomb.

3) Comment pests are worse than spammers.  Period.  Comment pests suck because you usually know them, and thus don’t have the heart to tell them to stop beating your website to death with comments.  It also sounds like a crappy thing to say.  This is my blog.  If you pester my blog with comments, I will mercilessly delete them, without prejudice.  I don’t care if it hurts your feelings. This blog is mine.

4) If I post music here and you steal it, I will be pissed at you.  Don’t ruin it for everybody.

5) Don’t spam the blog.

6) Don’t try and get me to come out of retirement and put out your record.  Believe it or not, people still do that.  Believe it or not, if I ever elect to do that, I’ve already got a list of bands I’d like to do it with, and chances are, your band isn’t on that list.  And believe it or not, I have even shittier distribution now than I did in 1996.

7) Stuff is currently not for sale here, so don’t ask me if I’ll sell you a Mommyheads CD or if I have any copies of the cuppa 7″ left. You should have bought one in 1994 when I needed you to. If I ever decide to sell records again, I’ll make a page for that.  If there’s no page for that, the records are not for sale.  I don’t even know where they are anyway.

8) I’ll treat you with respect if you do the same for me.  Unless you don’t deserve it – then you’re fair game.
